Is Your E-commerce Business Ready for Black Friday 2017?

9 November 2017

Black Friday falls on 24th November this year, and whether the concept fills you with pure joy or deep dread, there’s no denying that it’s a fantastic opportunity to increase sales - with last year seeing a 12% increase in online spending.

With only a few weeks to go, we’ve listed our top tips for making sure your E-commerce business is Black Friday ready.

Notify your customers in advance
Make sure that your website is on their hit-list by giving potential and existing customers a sneak peek of offers to come. You can do this via your website, E-newsletter, or social media accounts.

Time your offers well
Most companies will have sold out of popular products by mid-morning - so why not hold back, and let customers know that you’ll still have that product they’re looking for come 2pm?

Don’t feel pressured to discount
Big discounts don’t work for every brand - and could end up devaluing your products or services. If you don’t want to discount, then why not offer free gifts with every purchase, exclusive vouchers for the first 100 visitors or something else unique to your brand?

Create abandoned cart emails
Carts were abandoned at a rate of 65% during Black Friday 2014, according to Barilliance. Tempt shoppers back by sending an automated email offering them the same Black Friday discount on the same product for another 48 hours.

Make sure your website’s mobile responsive
Custora called Black Friday 2013 “Mobile Friday,” after 30.3% of orders were placed via a mobile device. If you don’t want to miss out on mobile prospects, then you’ll need to ensure that your website is mobile responsive.
